It's being reported that Stooges drummer Scott Asheton passed away Saturday due to an unspecified illness. He was 64. Asheton founded the Stooges in 1967, along with his brother Ron and vocalist Iggy Pop, and the trio along with fellow scenemates the MC5 helped define the shape of punk rock in the states.
